Waiting For Dinner

While we were waiting for the chicken to finish on the BBQ we played in the garden.  I meant to get pictures of this a while back…I taught Amelia to catch a few months ago using a balloon…it’s big enough to catch and light enough that she doesn’t need to be scared.  Can you see the excitement and pride on her face?!  She is SUPER pleased with herself, well until she threw the ball over the fence…

Rain Day

Tropical storm Debby is side-swiping us (third storm in a month to drench us) and so we were left with trying to entertain ourselves inside.  1600 Tinkerbell stickers, the Tinkerbell movies, pretzels, juice and a princess castle tent and we were well on our way to staying busy.

She made herself a little camp in the tent so that, at the right angle, she could watch her movies.  Since most of you haven’t seen her playroom in person, it’s 10′x10′ with a toddler table and chair, a full size sofa, a bunch of toys and then a huge tent in the middle.  You can imagine that it’s been a little cramped today…but we both had fun :)

Weekend Snaps

We haven’t had a break in a REALLY long time and so we headed to Fripp yesterday to play in the pools and catch up with the fam.  James just got into town and we all enjoyed the fun of catching up on his adventures. Then there was the barbecued ribs and the frozen cocktails!!  I haven’t been in the sun in such a long time, I am surprised I didn’t burn.  I am now convinced, after spending a day in the 1ft toddler pool that we just have to have one of these at home…how convenient would that be??

These are iphone instagram shots, so pardon the quality…

At This Moment In Time

this is so her…

  • getting dirty
  • finding the teensiest bit of sand to dig her toes into – because here in SC the dirt is sandy
  • wanting her hair to look pretty despite apparently suffering with frizz because of the humidity
  • choosing her clothes (and shoes…let’s not forget the shoes)
  • and, lastly, doing her thing!

Daddy

How she loves her special time with her daddy.  It was pretty late in the day and we were in her playroom while Adam was mowing the forest (we like to call a lawn) and she kept saying “Daddy” over and over.  So I took her outside for a quick whiz around the garden.  Honestly, I was surprised she got on…

Delayed Reaction

We had a good weekend getting Mum and Dad squared away with their 170 UK boxes.  Shelves were put up, cardboard was jammed into cars, shoes were sifted through and we generally tidied.  The only thing to dampen the weekend was that Dad was still getting over being ill and Betty seemed to tag-team him by feeling unwell too.  So far, it’s only been the three of us (I started the trend) that have had this mystery bug.  I can’t think what could have caused it but it’s a nasty one.

Amelia, having whipped away one of Betty’s bags and filled it with treasures she found around the house, was having a blast continuing her mission downstairs in the garage.  All teeth and smiles…

We left about thirty minutes after this picture was taken, ten minutes after we left, before we even got off the island, this was how she looked:

I thought how tired and washed out she looked.  The next day I realized why…she had the bug too.  After being terribly ill in the evening we have realized that we need to steer clear of the classroom until it’s out of her system. Poor poor girl…on the plus side, we get to spend the week together (in the new playroom).

Monday Afternoon

Having been trekking through Pinterest, I have decided to be proactive.  Whilst Amelia was at school, I set to work on creating her very own playroom.  We rarely have people stay over and so there is really no need for a dedicated guest room…

I have been so tired of seeing a piled up mess of toys in the corner of our living room with several lodged under the sofas.  I want a room for company to visit and a room for the toys.  So now I have an office/playroom which works well for us all and a cleared out living room that I am barely in anymore.  It’s great.

Amelia loves it too, with her little table and chair she can have a picnic whilst watching her tv and keeping an eye on her toys :)
