Now I have updated you on all the camera news, it’s time to catch you up on Amelia. She’s not been well for the last couple of weeks. After we were through the worst of the gluten contamination that happened last month, Amelia was sent home from school for being disruptive. Before I even got to the school to get her I had booked her a doctors appointment. I just knew, if she can’t behave in class there was something wrong. Sure enough we left the appointment with three sets of drugs! Perfect.
Perfect got upgraded to awesome with the effects that the drugs had on her. Hyperactivity, oral stimming (humming all day long…monotone humming), climbing on things like the kitchen counters, balancing on the tops of the dining chairs…yep, it has been great! Oddly though, the speech picked up.
Anyway, three drugs are now one. She’s on the mend but still won’t respond to her name, screams at the word no and the hyperactivity is still lingering. It is because of these issues that I blame not being able to get perfect she’s-looking-right-at-the-camera shots. It couldn’t possibly be my fault
Two things happened today with our weekly session that have never happened before. The top picture came about because I told Amelia I was going to photograph her, she stopped attacking her food and just stared into the lens. It’s not a perfect shot but I am keeping it because I didn’t have to sing or be any kind of a performing monkey. Yes! Perhaps her curiosity is creeping in…The next thing happened while we were watching Baby Babble. Aside from her repeating word after word and imitating the actions of the women on the DVD (yes, we were gaping at her), when she wanted it on again I put down the camera down to get the remote. When I was done, she tried to hand my camera back to me. It must be the Nikon factor or the drugs. Either way, I am a fan!
