1st Day

Despite the awful weekend that Amelia suffered, I decided that she would still go to school today.  And I am so glad to have made the right decision.  She was in great spirits.  All geared up in pink, I was ready to get her in the car but she was more ready and took of up the drive, walking to school!!  So independent…

She got to the classroom and was off, playing with the toys and shutting the open doors.  Not a tear in sight and not a worry flickered across her face.  Good for her!

How odd it was to have a silent house and the ability to do anything…oh how I will enjoy those few hours a week.

Amelia was a little angel for her teachers and got great reports all around.  The best thing was that school meant that she skipped her nap (which I wanted) and so she was beat by the time I picked her up.  She was asleep before I got to the car!!

Poorly

What a weekend we have endured.

For those of you that know us, you know we have all suffered with Amelia’s teeth.  Nothing, and I mean nothing, has compared to this weekend.  You know Milly is under the weather when she only wants to sit on your lap or be touching you…she’s not a clingy child but this weekend it was impossible to be apart from her.  She refused food and got only enough sleep that you could count the hours on one hand.  All glassy eyed and bright red rosy cheeks.  How is it that children can look so beautiful when they are poorly?

Amelia has never co-slept with us – we all need our space.  This weekend that changed – Adam and I barely slept and got up each morning aching.  Amelia became more withdrawn.  I think we may be through the first wave…tomorrow will tell.  But, as I write this she is sleeping in her own bed which is the first time since Thursday night.

Send her some hugs, the Little Love needs it.  Oh and some to us too…I think we’ll be having some sort of parade when this is all over!

And I’m Back In The Game!

A little chilly this morning which was a perfect opportunity to grab a hat and take Amelia outside to run around.  I can’t begin to tell you how happy I was to get some pictures of Amelia.  She reads my blog – she must do.  Well, if she doesn’t then she understands more than I thought.  She really did give it some today!

My persistence was worth it for great Wintry pics.

I haven’t given really any updates on Amelia just recently but I really don’t have too much to share.  She has been super clingy and has chewed through the majority of her pacifiers (little does she know that when her canines come in the pacifiers are history).  Oh, actually I do have news…she has found a new series to enjoy (THANKFULLY).  Now Adam and I can learn all the words in the Ice Age set.

We have been spending a lot of weekends on Fripp which has proved challenging…there are stairs, a cocktail cabinet, locks, and a whole new set of kitchen cabinets to go through.  I have considered getting one of those pegs (that dogs have in the yard) so that I know where she is.  But the new surroundings have been fun and she’s truly having fun with all her vacation toys.

All in all, it’s happy days and good livin’ over here!

Losing Heart

It is becoming so frustrating a difficult to coax Amelia to look at the camera.  Urghhhh.  Don’t even go there with family shots.  I have spent some time thinking about it and I am certain that this family set can only be the dry run for the awesome pictures I WILL GET!  At this point I would settle for the kid to look directly at me.  But, this is her look of the moment (the big pic) so I suppose I should look at it “at least I captured it”.

Amelia…resistance is futile!!

Morning Ritual

This kid is not happy without one of four (soon to be 5) things on the TV in the morning.  Finding Nemo or one of the Shrek’s.  Once it’s loaded she’ll sit there, on the edge of the sofa, with her drink and her DVD case (so can read the back and refresh her memory LOL) ready to be entertained.  It makes me laugh when she looks like a mini adult doing something that we do and take for granted all the time.

One of my favorites is when she’s in her high chair and has her little ankles crossed while she’s deciding which green bean looks better!

She was all fluffy this morning in her new jammies and her kitty slippers.  She seems so grown up now!

Debris Flying Everywhere

Well, it was a good tip from Sara to use corn on the cob as a teething tool *and* to get some quiet time.  She chowed down!

Now I definitely see a resemblance to her father!
