Our Week

Well it’s been a busy week and it has absolutely nothing to do with teething!  There were a few hiccups at night but nothing that we can’t handle!

We saw two sets of friends on the weekend and had a great time with both.  Oddly enough I had just told the friends we saw on Saturday that Amelia wasn’t a fan of the water.  On Sunday we got the opportunity to use our other friends’ pool and she loved it.  She even went under water a couple of times!

All our shows are back on this week…awesome!  There are just so many to keep up with.  Don’t think we’ll be needing Netflix anymore.  Did anyone see Glee?  The new kid singing Billionaire…WOW!  Looks like I’ll have some more songs to lose my voice to.

Amelia is testing her limits this week with what she can and what she cannot get away with.  Clearly it’s a game for her which makes it all the more challenging.  She has found yet another TV show she likes – The Wiggles.  All I can say is that the songs are catchy.  I have gone to bed a couple of times with the songs playing over and over in my head.  More amusing than watching Amelia try to join in with their dance routines was Adam’s look of confusion and sheer horror…priceless!

Ro and Mo are now able to sleep on the sofa’s at night which is really only because Rosie, poor sweet Rosie, cannot fit in her crate anymore!

Yesterday I sat there trying to make myself grab the camera.  I have been so busy concentrating on other things that I haven’t really taken any week 27 pics.  Amelia grabbed her new book and decided to have a read so I thought it was an ideal opportunity.  Well, I was shocked when I said “Amelia” (camera in my hands) and she looked up and smiled.  So I tried again and got the same thing…her smiling.  I did a jig on the spot.  She *never* looks at the camera willingly.

She made me laugh though…she now knows what a kiss is and also what an Eskimo kiss is.  Her book has lots of mirrors in it so I guess in one of the pics she’s trying to Eskimo kiss herself!

Would You Like Some Quesadilla’s With Your Sour Cream?

After having watched Archer delicately dip his fries into his tomato ketchup I thought I would offer Amelia some sour cream with her beef quesadilla.  She has these great plates with a tiny compartment for sauce so I put a dollop onto it to see how she liked it…oh, she liked it.  Once she had scooped out the entire dollop onto a piece of quesadilla, she decided she would just go straight to the source (thankfully it was pretty much empty)…I don’t think I would describe the way she ate this meal as delicate!

I can only be thankful that I wasn’t on clean up duty hehehehe…

A Taste Of What’s To Come

OH-MY-GOSH look at this little girl…I finally got the opportunity to get her wispy locks into teeny tiny pigtails and she looks so cute!  I didn’t have hair for so long so I don’t remember any pictures of me like this but it’s OK…the ones below more than make up for it.  Now I know I am biased but tell me you’re not tempted to say how adorable she is!

My Heels, Her Style

A great weekend with so many triumphs…one, is the pic below that I *had* to get…don’t her chubby little legs just look so delicious in those heels?!  I remember doing this with my mum’s shoes.  Of course I was less enthused when she picked them up to gnaw on the heels.  I expect she’ll have more appreciation for my gasp of horror when she grows up and buys her own pretty shoes!  LOL

Another great triumph, and I wish Sara was here to see it since she knows the desperation I have suffered to be able to finally witness this, Amelia decided to get her groove on.  The shoulders were a bouncin’ and her head was a bobbin’!!!She loves Glee…I am shaping her just the right way hehehehe…and both Adam and I got to share one of those parent moments that we’ll never forget :)

Run Ragged!

If there’s one thing I love about a toddler it’s their ability to pull new tricks out of the hat.  If there’s one thing I loathe about a toddler it’s their ability to pull new tricks out of the hat.

At the beginning of the week Amelia’s teeth kicked up a notch and everyone near her felt the pain…I felt like a zombie listening to the constant screams and the knowledge that absolutely nothing I did was right unless I was holding her *and* moving at the same time.  You try doing that for hours at a time with 23 pounds…it’s exhausting.  Thankfully I have one of the most awesome friends in the world, Sara, and she volunteered to enjoy the misery with me.  Archer was unaffected and simply fell asleep to the screaming by the end of the day – must be nice!  She refused food, literally didn’t drink the whole day and absolutely nothing other than holding her and moving helped.  But what ultimately ticked me off though wasn’t that I couldn’t help her, no, it was that Amelia, upon seeing Adam was home, gave him a hero’s welcome at the door as if all had been well the entire day.  Seriously?!?!  Urgghhhh…talk about your Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde!

So, dreading the next day and Adam leaving for work, I manned up for what I was expecting to be another hideous day.  But she didn’t make a peep really.  She even ate her breakfast.  Laughed at Shrek, sat on my lap, played gently with the dogs.  And then she went down for a nap…she woke up fine, had lunch *and* ate the lot.  We went out to run an errand and came back BUT then she turned into a monster.  She pulled my bag off the hallway table and thankfully my camera was not in it otherwise I would have been inconsolable.  She grabbed a cup of cold tea that I hadn’t put in the sink that morning and showered my sofas, rugs and herself (I learned a lesson there I guess).  So after the cleanup from the three minutes it had taken her to do this she sat in her highchair for both her and I to take a couple of minutes to compose ourselves.  Once out though she took off tearing the place up…she took Rosie’s bowl full of water out of her bed and tipped it everywhere, opened drawers and grabbed the place mats off of the table and started to throw them frisbee style.  How has this happened???  What did I do???

I was only mildly cheered when Adam actually got to witness this…but  the word’s No, Stop, Naughty and Amelia are just not in her vocabulary when she is in monster-mode.  All I can say is, I slept well that night!

For the entire day her was attitude, see it-want it-take it!

What do you do when you’re kid looks at you like this?

Why, you treat them to a lollipop of course!  But first you ask them to hand you their toys in return for the treat…

And then, bingo!  All better…us Mum’s are just so clever!
